From Behind the Bar to Behind the Keyboard: Meet Our New Content Director

The Cocktail Balance is evolving. Just a little—but in a meaningful way. We have a new Content Director.

The Cocktail Balance was started by two friends – Stanislav Harciník and Adrián Chrzan. From day one, it’s been built on a simple but powerful philosophy: Learn – Grow – Pass on.

That idea found its way not only into our blog, but also into two books: The Cocktail Balance and The Cocktail Balance 2.0. (Don’t have them yet? No worries – you can grab them here.)

On the site, this philosophy comes to life through three key sections: EDUCATIONSHOP, and JOURNAL.

  • EDUCATION: seminars and masterclasses that push you forward—both professionally and personally,

  • SHOP: where you can turn what you’ve learned into hands-on tools,

  • JOURNAL: the most vibrant part of the site, filled with articles, original stories, global bar news, rankings like The World’s 50 Best Bars, and modern drink recipes.

And it’s the JOURNAL that needs someone to steer the wheel.
Someone who understands the language of the bar.
Someone who can connect drinks with stories, facts with humor, knowledge with passion.

We’re excited to welcome Dominik Tapušík as the new Content Director of The Cocktail Balance JOURNAL.

Who’s Dominik?

Dominik has been part of the team since day one. He handled partner communications for both books – The Cocktail Balance and 2.0. Occasionally, he also wrote for the blog, and his piece “How to Create a Cocktail Story?” remains one of our most-read articles to this day.

Known to most of the local scene as “Ťapko,” Dominik is the Bar Manager at Sky Bar & Restaurant, where he's been part of the team for over a decade.
On the side, he channels his passion for whisky as a Whisky Advocate for Italmarket Slovakia.

During the covid years, he dove into copywriting—just in case getting back behind the bar wouldn’t be possible. And honestly, we’re glad he did.
Now he brings together language and flavor, writing and bartending, with more than 15 years of hands-on experience.

What can you expect? Fresh updates from the global hospitality world and new projects he’s already working on. The first one? Shining a light on the Slovak bar scene outside of Bratislava. Dominik wants to tell the stories of bars and concepts across the country—whether they’re launching a new menu, hosting a standout event, or simply doing great work with heart.

As Dominik likes to say: “I’d rather write than talk.”
And we can’t wait to read what’s next.
